VEON re-elects board of directors, including former U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo

MOSCOW. May 12 (Interfax) - The annual general shareholders meeting of the VEON telecommunications holding, which owns 83.6% of Kyivstar Group, has re-elected seven board members for new terms, including former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to Ukrainian media.

According to the holding's press release, the remaining board members include former UK Conservative Party leader Brandon Lewis, Andrei Gusayev, OBE Duncan Perry, former KPMG executive Michiel Soeting, and Veon CEO Kaan Terzioglu.

The newly elected board re-elected Augie K. Fabela II as chairman for a third term following the meeting.

Fabela said that the company plans to focus on expanding customer opportunities through artificial intelligence, digital financial services, and disciplined capital allocation.

As reported, VEON boosted revenue 9.9% to $4.4 billion in 2025, EBITDA totaled $2 billion, and direct digital revenue jumped 62.5% to $759 million.

Kyivstar served 22.4 million mobile subscribers and 1.2 million Home Internet subscribers as at the end of 2025. The company boosted EBITDA 30% to UAH 27 billion in 2025, and revenue surged 30.3% to UAH 48.2 billion. EBITDA grew 23.1% to UAH 7.2 billion in Q4 2025, and revenue rose 30.1% to UAH 13.5 billion in the period.
