Imports into Ukraine in Jan-April 2026 up 30% compared Jan-April 2025, up 47% compared to Jan-April 2024, exports unchanged

MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - Imports of goods into Ukraine from January to April 2026 increased in monetary terms by 30% to $32.2 billion compared to the same period in 2025, and by 47% compared to the period from January to April 2024, Ukrainian media said citing the State Customs Service's post on its social account.

Despite the increase in imports, exports from Ukraine almost did not grow from the 2024 level, reaching $13.9 billion over the first four months of 2026, compared to $13.4 billion in January-April 2024 and $13.3 billion in January-April 2025.

"Taxable imports amounted to $22.3 billion, or 69% of the total volume of imported goods. The tax burden per kilogram of taxable imports in January-April 2026 was $0.55," it said.

Ukraine imported $8.7 billion worth of goods from China, $3.1 billion from Poland, and $2.2 billion from Turkey in said period.

The top three destinations for Ukrainian exports included Poland ($1.5 billion), Turkey ($1.2 billion), and Italy ($857 million).

Machinery, equipment, and transport vehicles accounted for 72% of the total volume of goods imported into Ukraine in January-April 2026, valued at $13.3 billion (with UAH 74.3 billion, or 26% of customs duties paid to the budget during customs clearance), fuel and energy imports were worth $5.3 billion (with UAH 103.5 billion, or 36% of all customs duties paid), and chemical industry products $4.6 billion (UAH 38.4 billion, 14% of customs duties).

Ukraine's leading exports were food products worth $8.5 billion, metals and metal products ($1.3 billion), and machinery, equipment and transport vehicles ($1.2 billion).

"In January-April 2026, UAH 585.9 million was paid to the budget for customs clearance of export goods subject to export duties," it said.
