Moscow hoping U.S. mediators of Ukrainian conflict settlement continue their work - Peskov
MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax) - Moscow is hoping that U.S. mediators will keep working to settle the Ukrainian conflict, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"We are hoping that these goodwill services, the services of those facilitating the negotiations, will be continued by Washington. We highly appreciate these services, and I am hoping that the process will be continued," Peskov said at a press briefing on Thursday in response to a related question.
"We are ready to continue the negotiating process. For obvious reasons, the U.S. negotiators are now focused on other matters. Of course, they are prioritizing Iranian affairs. This is a process in which America is a direct participant rather than an intermediary," Peskov said.
He said he did not know why Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov was going to the United States and, as reported, would meet with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.
