Ukraine's GDP down 0.5% in Q1 2026 YoY - Statistics Service

MOSCOW. May 5 (Interfax) - Ukraine's real GDP decreased by 0.5% in Q1 2026 compared to Q1 2025, after growing 3.0% in Q4 2025, 2.1% in Q3 2025, 0.7% in Q2 2025, and 0.8% Q1 2025, Ukrainian media reported citing the State Statistics Service.

Adjusted for seasonal factors, Ukraine's real GDP decreased by 0.7% in Q1 2026 compared to Q4 2025, after growing 0.7% in Q4 2025, it said.

As reported, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) in April 2026 lowered its forecast for Ukraine's real GDP growth in 2026 to 1.3% from 1.8% in its inflation report in January 2026, citing a deterioration of the situation in the energy sector and the accumulation of negative effects from the developments in the Middle East. The NBU estimated Ukraine's GDP growth in Q1 2026 at 0.2%.

At the same time, the Economy Ministry estimated a GDP decline in January-February 2026 at 0.2%.

Earlier reports said citing the State Statistics Service that Ukraine's GDP growth slowed to 1.8% in 2025 from 2.9% in 2024 and 5.5% in 2023, following a 28.8% decline in 2022.
