KazMunayGas to reallocate oil exports to CPC, Russian ports amid suspension of transit via Druzhba pipeline

ASTANA. May 5 (Interfax) - KazMunayGas (KMG) plans to reallocate oil exports to the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) system and Russian ports amid the suspension of transit via the Druzhba pipeline, KMG told Interfax.

"Kazakhstan's oil volumes are to be reallocated to the CPC and Russian ports," KMG said when answering about the company's plans to reallocate oil transportation following the suspension of transit via the Druzhba pipeline to Germany in May.

Oil from Kazakhstan, which has been shipped through Russia to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline, is being rerouted from May, it has been reported.

"This is due to current technical capabilities," Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has said. He said Kazakh oil, which has been transported via the Druzhba pipeline to Germany, would be diverted to other available logistics routes starting May 1.

The Kazakh Energy Ministry later said Kazakhstan would redirect 260,000 tonnes of oil in May 2026 to the Baltic port of Ust-Luga and to the CPC system due to the halt in transit via Druzhba.

Kazakhstan had planned to ship about 3 million tonnes of oil to Germany via Druzhba in 2026. In 2025, deliveries to the Schwedt refinery totaled 2.1 million tonnes. In the first quarter of 2026, Kazakhstan doubled its oil shipments to Germany, reaching 730,000 tonnes.

Kazakhstan began shipping oil to Germany through the Transneft pipeline system in 2023, with deliveries made to the Adamowo Zastawa transfer point.
