Turkish chain SuperStep closes its stores in Ukraine

MOSCOW. April 30 (Interfax) - The international chain of multibrand shoe stores SuperStep will close all its stores in Ukraine in May-June, Ukrainian media reported, citing the Retail Association of Ukraine (RAU)

Zafer Ozbay, the general director of Eren Retail Group in Ukraine, which manages the Lacoste and SuperStep chains, told the RAU that this decision is the result of a strategic analysis of global activities and the sales channel structure.

"Ukraine remains an important market for us, and this step should be seen as an optimization of our global activities, not as an indicator of market potential," Ozbay said.

There are no plans to close Lacoste stores, and operations are continuing as normal, he said. According to the RAU, as of the end of April, there are 12 Lacoste stores operating in Ukraine - one each in Odessa, Dnepr and Lvov, and nine in Kiev.

SuperStep was founded in 2012 in Istanbul and operates in the sport-casual and lifestyle segment, offering a diverse selection of sneakers, accessories and textiles from world-famous brands such as Lacoste, Nike, Puma, Adidas, Reebok, New Balance, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Saucony.

The brand entered the Ukrainian market in 2015, opening its first store in the capital's Sky Mall shopping center. In 2018, there were five points - four in Kiev and one in Lvov. The chain also opened stores during the crisis: in 2023 in Lvov's Victoria Gardens, in 2024 in Kiev's Dream shopping center and Dnepr's Karavan shopping center, and in 2025 a renovated space opened in Lvov's Forum Lviv shopping center.

As of the end of April 2026, of the existing offline points, six remain - in the capital's Lavina Mall and Dream, Lvov's Forum Lviv and Victoria Gardens, Odessa's Riviera Shopping City and Dnepr's Karavan. The retailer also has an online store.
