Russia's grain harvest amounted to 144.6 mln tonnes in 2025 - agriculture minister

MOSCOW. April 29 (Interfax) - The grain harvest in Russia amounted to 144.6 million tonnes in 2025, Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut said at a government meeting on Wednesday.

"This figure is the third highest result in the country's history, while the gross harvest of pulses reached a record 8 million tonnes," she said.

As the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) previously reported, excluding the new regions, the grain harvest last year amounted to 141.2 million tonnes.

Lut also said that a historic high has been achieved for oilseed crops, including soybeans and rapeseed, as well as for fruit and berries in the organized sector.

Speaking about the progress of the current sowing campaign, Lut reported that 55 regions have already begun. "However, abnormal weather conditions in the Central area, the Volga Region, and several southern regions are preventing farmers from fully commencing sowing, so work is still lagging last year," she said.

Lut said that approximately 4.6 million hectares have been sown to date. "We are counting on a rapid return to normal weather conditions, which should allow us to accelerate the pace and complete spring sowing within the optimal agricultural timeframe," she said, noting that spring crops are planned for 56 million hectares. The total sown area is projected to be 83 million hectares.
