Aliyev announces plans to expand economic cooperation with Ukraine
BAKU. April 27 (Interfax) - Baku is expecting to increase its over $500 million trade with Ukraine through a broader number of joint projects and initiatives, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
"Today we successfully cooperate in many areas. This cooperation was proved once again today," Aliyev told journalists in Qabala (Azerbaijan) on Saturday after meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The sides discussed their political dialogue and energy cooperation, Aliyev said. "There are both successes already achieved here, SOCAR [State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic] has for many worked successfully in Ukraine, and wonderful prospects, joint projects," he said.
"Today we discussed in detail our joint initiatives, including issues relating to investments. Of course, at the top of the agenda are also issues of a further trade increase. Our trade [in 2025] exceeded $0.5 billion. But I hope this figure will grow bigger still in the coming years. Because there are big opportunities for that," Aliyev said.
