GDP in Belarus falls 0.4% in Q1

MINSK. April 17 (Interfax) - GDP in Belarus fell 0.4% year-on-year at constant prices to 68.2 billion Belarusian rubles in January-March 2026, the country's National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said.

The GDP deflator was 109.5%.

GDP fell 1.2% year-on-year in January-February 2026.

The Belarusian government is targeting GDP growth of at least 2.8% in 2026.

The International Monetary Fund this week lowered its 2026 GDP growth forecast for Belarus to 1.2% from 1.4%. The World Bank has lowered its forecast to 1.1% from 1.3%.

GDP grew 1.3% in 2025, 4% in 2024 and 3.9% in 2023 after falling 4.7% in 2022.
