Trade turnover of agricultural products between Russia, Egypt up 7% in Q1 - Agriculture Ministry

MOSCOW. April 16 (Interfax) - Mutual trade in agricultural products between Russia and Egypt increased 7% in Q1 2026, with Russian exports rising 5%, the Agriculture Ministry said following talks between Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut and Egyptian Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Mohamed Farouk.

The meeting was also attended by the executive director of Egypt's Mostakbal Misr Agency for Sustainable Development, Bahaa El-Ghanam.

The basis of Russian supplies traditionally consists of grains and oil and fat products, while imports from Egypt are mainly fruit, vegetables and berries. Trade in mineral fertilizers has significant potential, with trade turnover in this area increasing 1.7-fold last year.

Lut noted Russia's interest in maintaining a high level of trade relations between the countries and expressed readiness to increase grain exports, the ministry said. An important area of work is the development of cooperation with Mostakbal Misr.

The ministers also discussed opportunities for implementing joint projects, including those involving businesses from both countries.
