Russia, Myanmar discussing supply of petroleum products and LNG, joint exploration, hydrocarbon production projects
MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev has met with Myanmar's Minister of Electric Power and Energy Nyan Tun to discuss a partnership in the field of fuel and energy, the Russian Energy Ministry reported.
Representatives from Russian fuel and energy companies were also invited to participate in the discussion.
"A key topic in the talks was arranging exports of a wide range of Russian petroleum products to Myanmar. The export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) was also discussed. Special attention was paid to the prospect of implementing joint projects in the field of geological exploration and hydrocarbon production," the statement reads.
The parties agreed to form a cooperation agreement between the energy ministries of both countries, confirming their plans for a long-term partnership.
"Russia consistently acts as a responsible supplier of energy which guarantees the fulfilment of contractual obligations. We are prepared not only to ensure the supply of energy, but also to offer a range of technological solutions which will contribute to the republic's energy security," Tsivilev said.
