Ukraine's Kyivstar plans to reelect Mike Pompeo as member of board of directors

MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - Kyivstar, Ukraine's leading telecom operator, plans to reelect all ten members of its board of directors, including former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former CEO of Microsoft Ukraine (2007-2014) and former deputy presidential chief of staff (2014-2018) Dmitry Shymkiv, for a new term at its annual general shareholders meeting on May 12, 2026, Ukrainian media reported citing the company's press release.

The nomination committee also recommended reelecting Serdar Cetin, Betsy Cohen, Augie K Fabela II, former Chairman of the UK Conservative Party Brandon Lewis, Burak Ozer, LetterOne legal consultant Duncan Perry, former KPMG top manager Michiel Soeting, and Chairman of the Board Kaan Terzioglu.

"Kyivstar delivered a strong performance in 2025, validating our strategy [...] Digital revenues grew more than sixfold year-on-year to 15.7% of Q4 revenue, while our SpaceX partnership is advancing next-generation connectivity," the press release quoted Terzioglu as saying.

In addition to the election of board members, the meeting agenda includes the appointment of UHY LLP as the company's auditor for the financial period ending on December 31, 2026.

The meeting participants will also be invited to include a proposed amendment to the company's bye-laws to streamline the remuneration determination process by placing authority directly with the Remuneration Committee.

As reported, Kyivstar Group increased its EBITDA by 30% to UAH 27 billion in 2025, with revenue growing by 30.3% to UAH 48.2 billion. In Q4 2025, its EBITDA increased by 23.1% to UAH 7.2 billion and revenue grew by 30.1% to UAH 13.5 billion.

As of the end of 2025, Kyivstar served around 22.4 million mobile subscribers and over 1.2 million fixed-line subscribers.
