Russia offers Indonesia comprehensive approach to energy supply; oil supplies, petroleum products, LNG being studied

MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev and Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia have discussed cooperation between the two countries in the fuel and energy sector, and representatives of Russian energy companies also took part in the meeting, the Russian Energy Ministry said.

"The key topic of the meeting was the possibility of expanding supplies of oil and petroleum products, as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG), to Indonesia. The exploration, extraction and storage of energy resources were also considered. The Russian energy minister also noted the readiness of the Russian side to offer Indonesian partners a comprehensive approach to ensuring a reliable energy supply for the country," the ministry said.

During the conversation, the parties also focused on cooperation in electricity and in the use of peaceful atomic energy. Tsivilev said that in the field of nuclear energy, Russia offers the creation of a full-fledged ecosystem that includes not only the construction of energy facilities, but also the development of necessary scientific and technical competencies, including personnel training based on the existing designs of Russian engineering.

Indonesia has been a full member of BRICS since 2025, which creates additional opportunities for coordinating approaches to ensuring global energy security, developing fair approaches to energy, and strengthening the technological sovereignty of all member countries, the ministry said.

The meeting took place as part of the official visit of the Indonesian delegation to Russia and continued the line of negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, which took place on April 13 in the Kremlin.
