Ninth Ukraine Ministerial Roundtable to take place on sidelines of IMF-WBG Spring Meetings
MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - The 9th Ukraine Ministerial Roundtable is due to take place on Wednesday, April 15, on the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank in Washington, Ukrainian media reported citing the event's program.
World Bank Group (WBG) will co-host the roundtable with the Ukrainian government and will co-chair it with the IMF, the document said.
Unlike previous roundtables on Ukraine, the program of the upcoming one does not include its brief description, but, as usual, the event will be opened by World Bank Governor Ajay Banga and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.
European Investment Bank President Nadia Calvino and European Commissioner for Growth and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis have already confirmed their participation in the roundtable. Dombrovskis has also announced his meeting with Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko in Washington. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko and European Commission for Enlargement Marta Kos are expected to be present as well.
The first Ukraine roundtable was held on the sidelines of the IMF-WBG Spring Meetings in April 2022, followed by another one held during the meetings in October that year. Subsequently, they were held once every six months on the sidelines of such meetings of these international financial organizations.
During the IMF's annual meeting, taking place on April 13-18, 2026, the Ukrainian delegation and IMF representatives will discuss the implementation of the new $8.1-billion four-year Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement, which was approved at the end of February 2026 and is part of the overall external financing packing for 2026-2029 amounting to $136.5 billion under the baseline scenario.
The deadline for the new program's first structural benchmarks has already passed, because they triggered debate inside Ukraine regarding, in particular, VAT rates for individual entrepreneurs.
As reported, on February 26, 2026, the IMF approved a new four-year EFF program for Ukraine totaling $8.1 billion. Given the protracted crisis, this replaced the previous four-year $15.6 billion program, which was launched in March 2023 and under which the country had received nine tranches totaling $10.6 billion. The Ukrainian state budget has already received the first tranche of $1.5 billion under the new program.
