Russia increases barley export revenue 28% to $172 mln in Q1 - Agroexport
MOSCOW. April 14 (Interfax) - Russia increased barley exports 28% year-on-year to $172 million and 18% in weight terms to 752,000 tonnes in the first quarter of 2026, the Agroexport federal center reported.
The center said that its export data for the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) were for January 2025 and 2026.
It said that the main importers of Russian barley had practically remained the same over the last five years - with the exception of Oman, which entered the top ten, and Tunisia, which left. There were also changes within the ranking: Saudi Arabia progressed to first place in 2025 from second place in 2021; China was in second place versus fifth in 2021. Turkey ranked first, versus first place five years previously. Libya moved from fourth to third place and Iraq from the eighth to the fifth. The top-ten biggest buyers also includes the UAE, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan and Oman.
According to Rosstat data harvested 19.7 million tonnes of barley in 2025 versus 16.7 million tonnes in 2024.
Agroexport reported, citing Data Insights Market that the global barley market would grow 4.7% on average each year by 2032.
