Ukraine's imports up 26%, exports grow 2% YoY in Q1 2026 - State Customs Service
MOSCOW. April 13 (Interfax) - Ukraine increased imports of goods by 26% year-on-year to $23.4 billion in money terms in January-March 2026 from $18.5 billion in the same period of 2025, exporting goods worth $10.1 billion versus $9.9 billion in Q1 2025, Ukrainian media reported, citing a statement from Ukraine's State Customs Service.
"Taxable imports amounted to $16.2 billion, or 69% of the total volume of imported goods. The tax burden per one kilogram of taxable imports stood at $0.54 per kilogram in January-March 2026," the statement said.
The top three countries from which Ukraine imported the most goods in the reporting period were China ($6.3 billion), Poland ($2.2 billion), and Turkey ($1.6 billion).
In January-March 2026, Ukraine exported its goods mostly to Poland ($1.1 billion), Turkey ($840 million), and Germany ($659 million).
The total volume of goods imported into Ukraine in Q1 2026 was dominated by the following categories: machinery, equipment and transport with $9.5 billion (UAH 53.9 billion was paid to the budget for customs clearance of these goods, or 26% of customs receipts), fuel and energy with $3.8 billion (UAH 77.3 billion was paid to the budget, or 37% of customs receipts), chemical industry products with $3.4 billion (UAH 28.2 billion was paid to the budget, or 13% of payment receipts).
The three top exports from Ukraine in the first three months of 2026 were food ($6.3 billion), metals and metal products ($929 million), as well as machinery, equipment and transport ($848 million).
In January-March 2026, UAH 509.5 million was paid to the budget during the customs clearance of exports of goods subject to export duties, the statement said.
