Kazakhstan plans to extend ban on bull exports for another 6 months

ASTANA. April 13 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan is planning to extend the temporary ban on exporting bulls for another six months, the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture said in a draft decree published on the Open NPA portal.

"Extend the ban on exports of bulls from the Republic of Kazakhstan for a period of six months (Code 0102 of the Unified Commodity Nomenclature of Foreign Economic Activity of the Eurasian Economic Union)," the document reads.

The interministerial commission on foreign trade policy and participation in international economic organizations approved the extension on March 5.

These measures are aimed at guaranteeing the country's food security, ensuring local meat processing plants operate at full capacity and stabilizing beef prices, the draft decree reads.

The public will be able to submit comments on the measure until April 24.

In November 2025, Kazakhstan extended the temporary ban on the export of bulls until the end of April 2026.

Kazakhstan first introduced the temporary ban on May 15, 2025, intending for it to last three months. It has since extended the measure multiple times.
