Vostochny launch site to be upgraded for Soyuz-2 rockets to send resupply ships to ISS - Roscosmos head
MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - A Soyuz-2 launch site will be upgraded at the Vostochny Cosmodrome to send resupply ships to the International Space Station (ISS), Roscosmos General Director Dmitry Bakanov said.
"The cosmodrome lives on launches. The more of them are done, the more business activity there will be in the city and the region. Therefore, we are upgrading the Soyuz-2 launch site [at Vostochny] for sending resupply ships to the ISS. This will also create an additional payload," Bakanov said at a Federation Council meeting.
"We are planning to move every other mission, including Glonass satellite launches, to Vostochny in a phased manner," he said.
