European Commission says working to phase out Russian nuclear energy - newspaper

MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - The European Commission is working on the proposal on phasing out Russian nuclear energy, the newspaper Izvestia said on Friday, citing the European Commission's press service.

It said it was told by the press service that the European Commission kept on working on the proposal on gradually phasing out Russian nuclear energy.

The decision directly concerns five EU member states operating Soviet- and Russian-made reactors, including Bulgaria, Czechia, Finland, Hungary and Slovakia. For them, phasing out Russian nuclear fuel means a long transition to alternative fuel, the newspaper said.
