IAEA discusses local ceasefire in ZNPP area with Russia, Ukraine to repair Dneprovskaya power line - Grossi

PARIS. March 24 (Interfax) - Representatives from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have begun discussions with Moscow and Kiev on establishing a new ceasefire in the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) area to repair the damaged Dneprovskaya power line, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said.

"Rafael Grossi says IAEA initiates discussions with both sides on establishing local ceasefire to enable repairs of damaged power line," the IAEA said on X.

The Zaporozhye NPP is currently disconnected from the Dneprovskaya power line, leaving only one backup external power supply line operational.

The Zaporozhye NPP with six VVER-1000 reactor units is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It stopped generating electricity on September 11, 2022. All six reactors are in a cold shutdown.
