Belarus extends ban on export of industrial goods for another six months

MINSK. March 24 (Interfax) - The Belarusian government has extended the ban on exports of more than 250 types of industrial goods until September 22, 2026; the corresponding government resolution was published on Tuesday on the National Legal Internet Portal.

"A temporary ban is established on the export of goods according to the list in the appendix, regardless of country of origin, from Belarus to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), beyond the customs territory of the EAEU from Belarus to states that are not members of the EAEU, of goods when placed under customs procedures of export, temporary export and processing outside the customs territory, and re-export," the resolution said.

According to the document, the ban does not apply to Russian and Belarusian goods accompanied by a certificate of origin. The restrictions also do not apply to goods moved within the framework of international transit transportation, between parts of the territory of Russia in transit through Belarus, as well as in a number of other cases.

The appendix to the resolution contains a list of more than 250 types of industrial goods that are prohibited for export. In particular, the export of boilers, turbines, engines, vehicles, certain types of industrial equipment, machinery and equipment for agriculture, machine tools, locomotives, wagons, paints and varnishes and scrap metal is prohibited.

Belarus first introduced a six-month ban on the export of a wide range of industrial goods at the end of March 2022 "to protect the economic interests of the state." Since then, the resolution has been extended several times, and the list of goods has also been adjusted.
