U.S. sanctions waiver applies to some 100 mln barrels of Russian oil already at sea - Dmitriev

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - The U.S. sanctions waiver applies to around 100 million barrels of Russian oil already at sea, Russian Special Presidential Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation Kirill Dmitriev said.

"U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent announced not only an easing of restrictions for India to buy Russian oil but also a waiver for some 100 million barrels of Russian oil currently in transit," Dmitriev said on Telegram.

Amid the growing energy crisis, this further easing of restrictions on Russian energy resources appears to be ever more inevitable even despite resistance from European Union bureaucrats, he said.

"The U.S. effectively admits the obvious: the global energy market cannot remain stable without Russian oil," Dmitriev said.
