European Commission offers Kiev to organize inspection mission to Druzhba oil pipeline

BRUSSELS. March 12 (Interfax) - The European Commission has offered to organize an inspection mission to the Druzhba oil pipeline following its shutdown, the commission's spokeswoman Anna Kaisa Itkonen said at a press briefing in Brussels on Thursday.

"We offered Ukraine a mission, and we are awaiting a reply, staying in contact with Ukrainians," Itkonen said, adding that she had no details regarding such a delegation.

"We are in intense discussions and contact with Ukraine on this issue, as has been the case for a couple of weeks already, as well as with the member states that are most concerned," Itkonen said.

When asked about a visit proposed to Ukraine by Hungary of a group of inspectors whose official status Kiev does not recognize, she said she was unaware of any details.
