Dodson elected Ukrnafta Supervisory Board chairman after Nightingale joins Naftogaz

MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - Timothy Dodson has been elected to head the Supervisory Board of Ukrnafta, replacing Duncan Nightingale in this post, Ukrainian media reported, citing an Ukrnafta statement.

"Timothy Dodson has been appointed chairman of Ukrnafta's Supervisory Board. Under the government decision, Duncan Nightingale, who was chairman of the Supervisory Board has joined the team of Naftogaz of Ukraine," media outlets quoted Ukrnafta as saying in its statement on social media.

Dodson has an international track-record of over 40 years in geology and extraction. He headed and held a seat on the boards of several UK and Norwegian companies, such as Ennox Technology, New European Offshore, Sval Energi. After joining Equinor (formerly known as Statoil) in 1985, he built up his career from a well logger and geologist to the post of vice president of strategy in 2021.

As reported, in early March 2024, shareholders endorsed Dodson, Ireneusz Fafara, and Nightingale, who was subsequently elected Supervisory Board chairman, as independent members of the Supervisory Board, elected through a competitive process. Nightingale was appointed to the Supervisory Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine on March 2, 2026.

Fafara became CEO of Polish state-owned energy company Orlen in April 2024, so Yekaterina Kuznetsova was elected as a new independent member of the Supervisory Board. She has more than 25 years of experience in international audit companies.

Company shareholders are represented by Lyudmila Daragan (on behalf of the Defense Ministry) and Rosa Tapanova (on behalf of Naftogaz). The latter also represented the Ukrainian state in the previous Ukrnafta Supervisory Board.

The Ukrainian government on March 2 appointed a new composition of Naftogaz of Ukraine's Supervisory Board after the previous board's term in office expired. Nightingale became one of the board's four independent members along with Robert Slesinski, Eric Rasmussen and Tor Martin Anfinnsen. Ukraine's representative on the Naftogaz Supervisory Board is Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Anna Artemenko.

The government's State Secretary Konstantin Maryevich has also been reelected to the Naftogaz Supervisory Board after the powers of Rostislav Shurma, deputy head of the Office of the Ukrainian President, were terminated ahead of time.

Ukrnafta, Ukraine's largest oil producing company, operates a nationwide chain of gas stations. The company took over management of Glusco's assets in March 2024 and currently operates a total of 545 filling stations, including 460 of its own and 85 under management.

The largest shareholder of Ukrnafta is Naftogaz of Ukraine with 50% plus one share. The headquarters of the Ukrainian Armed Forces supreme commander-in-chief decided to transfer private shares in Ukrnafta to the government in November 2022. They are currently managed by the Defense Ministry.
