Kazakhstan road section between Turkmenistan, Russia to be repaired in 2026
ASTANA. March 3 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan will complete repairs this year on a road section linking the town of Zhanaozen in western Kazakhstan with the Turkmen border, part of the Turkmenistan-Russia transport corridor, Kazakh Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev said.
"Temir-Baba [a checkpoint on the Kazakh-Turkmen border] - the border with the Russian Federation. In keeping with the tasks set, repair work is being done on the Zhanaozen section on the border with Turkmenistan. This section is part of the Turkmenistan-Russia corridor," Sauranbayev said at a government meeting on Tuesday.
He said that a feasibility study for the expansion of the road to four lanes was now being prepared.
It was reported previously that Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered for repairs to be begun on the road sections from Zhanaozen to the Turkmen border in 2025.
