Ukrainian govt appoints new composition of Naftogaz supervisory board
MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has appointed a new composition of Naftogaz of Ukraine's supervisory board proposed by the nomination committee, Ukrainian media quoted Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko as saying.
"The selection process was conducted in a fully transparent and competitive manner, taking into account the candidates' professional merits," media outlets quoted Sviridenko as saying on social media.
The new Naftogaz supervisory board's independent international members are Robert Slesinski, Eric Rasmussen, Duncan Nightingale, and Tor Martin Anfinnsen. All of them are specialists with a lengthy track-record in the energy sector, Sviridenko said.
In particular, Slesinski (Poland) is an expert in corporate governance and energy, while Rasmussen (Denmark) is an expert in energy and infrastructure financing, including at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Rasmussen worked on corporate governance reform for Ukraine's state-owned companies, including Naftogaz.
Nightingale (Canada) specializes in operational management of energy asset extraction and development. He headed the Ukrnafta supervisory board, where he was responsible for implementing Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development practices.
Anfinnsen (Norway) held senior positions at Norwegian energy giant Equinor. As a current member of the Naftogaz supervisory board, Anfinnsen is responsible for continuity in management and the implementation of European standards.
Ukraine's representatives on the Naftogaz supervisory board are Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Anna Artemenko and the government's State Secretary Konstantin Maryevich, who has been reelected to the Naftogaz supervisory board.
"Simultaneously, we are completing the renewal of supervisory boards across the entire energy sector - at Centrenergo, Ukrainian Distribution Networks, Ukrenergo, Ukrhydroenergo, GTS Operator of Ukraine, and others," Sviridenko said.
