Duty on sunflower oil exports from Russia increases 2% in March, meal duty to remain at zero - Agriculture Ministry

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The duty on sunflower oil exports from Russia increases 2% in March to 9,687 rubles from 9,495 rubles per tonne in February.

The duty on sunflower meal will be zero for the third month in a row.

The calculations were provided by the Agriculture Ministry.

The indicative prices used to calculate the duties were $1,258 per tonne for oil ($1,233.3 a month earlier) and $199.7 for meal ($195.2).

The amount of duties is 70% of the difference between the base and indicative prices (the arithmetic mean of market prices for the month).

Russia introduced the "sunflower damper" mechanism on September 1, 2021. Initially, duties were calculated in dollars, and in rubles from July 2022.

The base price for sunflower oil is 82,500 rubles per tonne; for meal it is 15,875 rubles per tonne.

In August 2024, the floating duties were extended for two years, until September 1, 2026. In October 2025, the government extended their validity until August 31, 2028.
