UK's ED&F Man liquidates Russian sugar subsidiary
MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax) - The UK's ED&F Man Sugar Ltd., part of ED&F Man Commodities, a global commodity supplier, is liquidating its Russian subsidiary, ID&F Man LLC, according to the Unified State Registry of Legal Entities (USRLE).
The liquidator was appointed on February 26, 2026.
This was an entirely expected event, as ED&F Man Sugar Ltd. has long and systematically been winding down its operations in Russia, Yevgeny Ivanov, a leading expert at the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR), told Interfax
"The company primarily traded raw sugar in Russia and neighboring countries, and occasionally entered into production projects for raw sugar processing, so its role in the beet sugar market was insignificant," Ivanov said.
The company owned the Giaginsky and Liskisakhar sugar factories in Russia, with the former closing after bankruptcy, according to data from the USRLE. The Liskisakhar factory has been sold to the current owner, United Sugar Company, part of the Prodimex Group.
