SOCAR, Uzbekneftegaz agree on cooperation in modernizing Bukhara Refinery

BAKU. Feb 26 (Interfax) - The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR) plans to participate in the project to increase the productivity of the Bukhara Oil Refinery, the state company Uzbekneftegaz said.

"The chairman of the board of directors of Uzbekneftegaz, Abdugani Sanginov, received the management of SOCAR's subsidiaries - SOCAR Trading (the trading subsidiary) and SOCAR Downstream Management (the subsidiary for oil refining). The negotiations were attended by N. Aliyev, the director of global government relations at SOCAR Trading, and G. Mikailov, advisor to the general director of SOCAR Downstream Management," Uzbekneftegaz said.

The parties noted that the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan has been developing steadily in recent years. It was emphasized that the high-level political dialogue forms the basis for further expanding cooperation in the oil and gas sector.

"Representatives of SOCAR expressed interest in developing cooperation with JSC Uzbekneftegaz to improve the efficiency of the Bukhara Oil Refinery. During the meeting, proposals were presented on introducing modern operational technologies, digitalizing production processes and improving energy efficiency," it said.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue practical cooperation. It was also decided to organize a visit of a working group from the Azerbaijani side to the enterprise to conduct a technical audit and develop specific proposals for further actions.

Bukhara Oil Refinery LLC is an oil refining enterprise in Uzbekistan specializing in the processing of oil and gas condensate. The first phase was put into operation on August 22, 1997. The refinery, with a design processing capacity of 2.5 million tonnes of raw materials per year, produces A-80, A-91/92, A-95 and A-98 gasoline grades meeting Euro-2 standards, Jet A-1 aviation fuel, diesel fuel meeting Euro-4, Euro-5 and Euro-6 standards, as well as fuel oil, liquefied petroleum gas, solvents and sulfur.
