United Kingdom imposes sanctions against 9 Russian banks
MOSCOW. Feb 24 (Interfax) - The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions against Russia's Post Bank and Tochka Bank, according to a statement from the country's Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI).
The UK sanctions list also includes Transcapitalbank, Absolut Bank, Bank Sinara, Bank Avers, Lanta Bank, Ak Bars Bank and Fora Bank.
According to information on the UK government's website, these nine credit institutions conducted cross-border payments that were significant for Russia's attempts to maintain access to international markets and assistance in financing military actions.
In 2025, Ak Bars Bank ranked 16th by asset size in the Interfax-100 ranking prepared by Interfax-CEA, Transcapitalbank ranked 24th, Tochka Bank ranked 26th, Absolut Bank ranked 28th, Post Bank ranked 29th, Bank Avers ranked 38th, Bank Sinara ranked 44th, Fora-Bank ranked 62nd and Lanta Bank ranked 103rd in this ranking.
