Rossiya Airlines' flights to Cuba to be suspended after tourists evacuated

MOSCOW. Feb 11 (Interfax) - The flights of Rossiya Airlines (part of Aeroflot Group) to Cuba will be temporarily suspended in the coming days after tourists are evacuated, the Federal Air Transport Agency said.

"In the coming days, Rossiya Airlines will operate a number of flights with loads only on the return route, from Havana and Varadero to Moscow, to ensure the evacuation of Russian tourists currently in Cuba. Following this, the airline's flight program will be temporarily suspended until the situation changes," the agency said.

The decision is related to difficulties with refueling aircraft in Cuba. Nordwind Airlines has also made adjustments to its flight schedule.

"The Russian Transport Ministry and the Federal Air Transport Agency are keeping the situation with flights between the countries under special control and maintain constant contact with Cuba's aviation authorities. The parties are searching for alternative opportunities to resume the flight program in both directions in the interests of both countries' citizens," the agency said.
