Kremlin to take into account media reports on plans to hold election, referendum on deal with Russia in Ukraine, but proposes relying on original sources

MOSCOW. Feb 11 (Interfax) - Media reports on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's plans to announce a presidential election and a peace deal with Russia on February 24 should be taken into account, but original sources should be relied on, which have not issued such statements just yet, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"It's too early to discuss this. We basically see an exchange of such messages by certain sources via the media," Peskov told reporters on Wednesday in response to a question about whether the possible announcement of plans to hold an election and a referendum might influence the Ukrainian conflict outcome.

"We have to closely follow this kind of news, keep them in mind, of course, but still rely on original sources. The original sources have not made such statements thus far," Peskov said.

The media said earlier that Zelensky was planning to announce plans for an election and a referendum on the peace deal with Russia on February 24.
