New crossing point to open on Ukrainian-Moldovan border
MOSCOW. Feb 11 (Interfax) - Ukraine and Moldova have agreed to open a new international automobile border crossing, which will operate 24/7 and will process both passenger and cargo traffic, Ukrainian media outlets quoted Ukraine's Interior Minister Igor Klimenko as saying in a statement on social media.
"We have signed an important protocol regarding the movement of people and goods across our shared border," Klimenko said.
The new protocol complements the 1997 interstate agreement on border checkpoints and officially adds the new 24/7 border crossing to the list of international automobile border crossings.
The opening of this new border checkpoint is expected to help enhance the Ukrainian-Moldovan border's cargo throughput capacity, make exports and imports more efficient, and reduce the burden on other border crossings.
