Ukraine's State Border Service updates border-crossing statistics
MOSCOW. Feb 9 (Interfax) - The number of people who crossed Ukraine's western borders over the week from January 31 to February 6, 2026 decreased to 392,000 compared with the previous week, Ukrainian media reported citing the State Border Service.
The number of entries decreased to 198,000 last week from 202,000 the week before, and yet it was still slightly larger than the number of departures, which also went down to 194,000 from 199,000, it said.
The number of vehicles crossing the border decreased to 106,000 last week after standing at around 110,000 for the previous four weeks, while the number of vehicles carrying humanitarian aid dropped to 502 from 531 the week before.
According to the United Nations Refugee Agency's report updated on January 16, 2026, the number of Ukrainian refugees around the world was estimated at 5.898 million (up from 5.860 million as of December 11, 2025), including 5.349 million in European countries outside of Ukraine (up from 5.311 million).
Inside Ukraine, according to the UN's information updated in late 2025, there were around 3.7 million internally displaced persons (IDPs), compared with 3.34 million in July 2025 and 3.76 million in April 2025.
