Ukraine's international reserves up 0.6% to $57.7 bln in Jan - NBU

MOSCOW. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Ukraine's international reserves, according to preliminary data, reached an all-time high of $57.66 billion as of February 1, 2026, Ukrainian media reported on Friday citing the National Bank of Ukraine's (NBU) website.

"In January, they increased by $357.8 million compared to the previous month - primarily thanks to external financing, which largely compensated for the NBU's net FX sales and Ukraine's FX debt repayments," the NBU said in a statement.

Ukraine's net international reserves increased to $43.73 billion in January, which is $406 million, or 0.9%, more than in December 2025.

The share of assets denominated in U.S. dollars in these reserves increased to 67.7% as of February 1, 2025 from 64.6% in December 2025 and 82.8% in January 2025. The share of euros declined to 23.0%, compared with 27.8% in December 2025 and 10.0% in January 2025.

The share of gold at the beginning of February 2026 was 8.5%, compared to 6.8% a month before and 5.7% a year before.

Securities accounted for 47.3% of the reserves, cash, correspondent accounts, and deposits 44.2%, and monetary gold 8.5%. These shares were 44.8%, 48.4%, and 6.8%, respectively, the previous month, and 67.6%, 26.7%, and 5.7% the previous year.

A total of $3,124 billion came into the government's forex accounts with the NBU through the World Bank's accounts in January 2026.

The Ukrainian government paid $310.7 million on servicing and repaying the forex public debt, including $233.9 million to service and redeem Eurobonds and $76.8 million to meet the country's liabilities to other creditors. Ukraine also repaid $171.6 million to the International Monetary Fund, it said.

The NBU sold $3.73 billion on the forex market in January 2026, compared with $4.70 billion in December 2025.

A revaluation of financial instruments increased their value by $1.446 billion in January 2026.

The NBU's January inflation report said that international aid to Ukraine would amount to $51.4 billion in 2026, $42.7 billion in 2027, and $21.6 billion in 2028, which should be enough to maintain the international reserves at around $65 billion by the end of 2026, around $73 billion in 2027, and almost $71 billion in 2028.
