Russia may increase fertilizer exports to at least 46 mln tonnes in 2026 compared to 45 mln tonnes in 2025 - industry association head

BRASILIA. Feb 6 (Interfax) - Russia may increase the production of mineral fertilizers to at least 66 million tonnes and raise exports to 46 million tonnes in 2026, the head of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers (RAFP), Andrei Guryev, told reporters.

In 2025, the industry's enterprises increased fertilizer output to 65.5 million tonnes compared to 63 million tonnes the year before.

"In terms of this indicator, Russia has surpassed the USA, India and Canada and in recent years has confidently held second place in the world after China. At the same time, Russia is in first place in terms of mineral fertilizer supplies to the world market," Guryev said on the sidelines of the Russian-Brazilian business forum.

Fertilizer exports grew 7% in 2025 and reached 45 million tonnes, he said. More than 75% of all exports went to friendly countries, compared to 69% in 2019.

Total supplies to BRICS states last year reached 22.8 million tonnes (+6% compared to 2024). Compared to 2021, exports of Russian fertilizers to BRICS countries increased 71%.

In particular, India purchased 6 million tonnes of Russian fertilizers in 2025. For comparison, in 2021 the figure stood at 1.1 million tonnes.

World trade in mineral fertilizers in 2025 is estimated at 242 million tonnes, and Russia's share amounted to 19%, Guryev said.

By 2030, the industry intends to increase production by one third compared to the level of 2023, to 80 million tonnes. Supplies to the domestic market may grow 20% to 22 million tonnes, exports may rise 1.5-fold to 58 million tonnes, and Russia's share in global fertilizer supplies could rise to 25%, he said.
