IAEA rotates its Zaporozhye NPP mission

SIMFEROPOL. Feb 6 (Interfax) - The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) has undergone its 32nd rotation, plant representatives said on Friday.

"A scheduled rotation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) observers has been accomplished at the Zaporozhye NPP," the plant's Telegram channel said.

This is the 32nd rotation the specialists have done starting from September 1, 2022. There are four experts on the 33rd mission.

The mission underwent its previous rotation on December 3, 2025.

"Personnel of the Russian Defense Ministry, the Russian National Guard and the Russian Interior Ministry's branch in the Zaporozhye region ensured safety and security during the rotation - their combined professional actions allowed the rotation to be organized in a reliable and rapid manner," it said.

The Zaporozhye NPP with six VVER-1000 reactor units is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe. It stopped generating electricity on September 11, 2022. All six reactors are in a cold shutdown.

All plant facilities are incorporated into the Zaporozhye NPP federal state unitary enterprise and owned by Russia. The Zaporozhye NPP Operator, founded by Rosatom's Rosenergoatom, runs the plant.
