Witkoff plans to attend Russia-Ukraine talks in Abu Dhabi this week - media
WASHINGTON. Feb 2 (Interfax) - U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff plans to take part in the next round of Russia-Ukraine consultations in Abu Dhabi this week, Axios journalist Barak Ravid said, citing an unnamed U.S. official.
"Witkoff will visit Israel before going to Abu Dhabi, where a new round of talks between Russia and Ukraine will take place on Wednesday or Thursday," Ravid wrote on X.
Witkoff will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials in Israel on Tuesday, according to the source.
Apart from the negotiations on Ukraine, Witkoff is actively engaged in attempts to settle outstanding issues with Iran.
According to Ravid, Witkoff's meeting with the Iranians is not yet planned, but contacts on this issue are continuing. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held talks with his counterparts from Turkey, Egypt and Saudi Arabia earlier on Monday.
The Fars news agency reported earlier, citing its source, that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian had given the go-ahead to a new round of Iran's talks with the United States.
