Rosatom ready to build both large, small NPPs in UAE, submits proposals

MOSCOW. Jan 29 (Interfax) - Rosatom has offered the United Arab Emirates (UAE) its designs for both large and small nuclear power plants (NPPs), head of the Russian state nuclear energy corporation Alexei Likhachev told reporters.

"Our partners in the United Arab Emirates are willing to broaden the nuclear agenda today. We have submitted our proposals to them for large and small NPPs, land-based and floating options," Likhachev said.

"These issues are now under consideration," he said.

Rusatom Overseas head Ilya Vergizayev said at 2025 Russian Energy Week, when speaking about prospects in the Arab region, that the UAE is considering developing the second stage of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant and research reactors.

Rosatom is already collaborating with the UAE in the transport sector. In particular, the company is engaged in a joint project with Arab port operator DP World (DPW) to advance container shipping along the Northern Sea Route.
