Gazprom allocates over 1 trln rubles to develop Russia's gas infrastructure in 5 years - Novak

MOSCOW. Jan 23 (Interfax) - Gazprom allocated over one trillion rubles to develop Russia's gas infrastructure in 2021-2025, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said during a meeting of the federal headquarters on gas infrastructure development.

"The level of Gazprom's investments over the five-year period exceeded 1 trillion rubles. This is 2.7 times more than in the previous five-year period. As a result, Russia's level of gas infrastructure development reached 75% in 2025," Novak said on Rossiya-24 TV.

Over 910 km of gas branch pipelines and over 22,000 km of inter-settlement and distribution pipelines have been built in the past five years. Gas has reached 2,150 settlements for the first time. Over 7,400 heating sources have been connected to the gas grid in the regions as part of the boiler gasification program.

"Large-scale work has been completed. Over 1.7 million contracts have been signed to date. Technical connection capability has been ensured for nearly 1.8 million facilities. 1.47 million contracts have been completed up to the land plot boundaries. In 2025, we reached a peak of 337,000 connections. A total of 1.1 million consumers have already received gas under the additional gasification program, with 346 boiler houses of medical and educational institutions having also been converted to natural gas," Novak said in the press release.

The leading regions in terms of the number of connections over the past two months include the Leningrad, Lipetsk, Penza, and Tambov regions, the Chechen Republic, and the republics of Bashkortostan, Mari El, and Mordovia, according to Gazprom Mezhregiongaz.

Russia's goal is to connect 1.6 million households to gas by 2030 and to increase the number to 3 million by 2036.

"Gas infrastructure work has been established and has entered a stable course. I am confident that both Gazprom and the regional headquarters will continue to work smoothly to implement the objectives set by the Russian President," Novak said.

"A tremendous amount of work has been done to further gasify the gas supply. New laws have been adopted for the gas industry, simplifying gasification for both citizens and gas companies, and the customer journey for future subscribers has been completely digitalized. Nearly 7,000 households were connected to gas in just two working weeks of January. The goal for 2026 is to connect another 250,000 homes," Gazprom Mezhregiongaz CEO Sergei said in the gas company's press release.
