Armenian FM, U.S. secretary of state issue statement on Trump Route implementation framework

YEREVAN. Jan 14 (Interfax) - Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a joint statement on the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) implementation framework in Washington on Tuesday.

The statement will be published on Wednesday, the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service said.

At the meeting, Mirzoyan and Rubio "emphasized with satisfaction the active dynamics of the development of the Armenia-U.S. strategic partnership, the implementation of the agreements, the joint initiatives and further prospects," it said.

"The Armenian foreign minister and the U.S. state secretary discussed progress in implementing the agreements of the Washington Peace Summit of August 8, 2025. Both sides emphasized the importance of the further institutionalization of peace and addressed the steps in that direction," the press service said.

The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) will connect Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan through the Armenian territory by a 42-kilometer road in south Armenia.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a declaration in Washington on August 8 to ensure Yerevan's cooperation with Washington and certain third parties on the framework of the TRIPP connectivity project on the Armenian territory. The project envisages construction of road, railway and oil-and-gas infrastructure.

Pashinyan said earlier that the Armenian-U.S. company would be managing TRIPP business without controlling the road.
