Volume of exchange trading in mineral fertilizer doubles in 2025 - Federal Anti-monopoly Service

MOSCOW. Jan 13 (Interfax) - The volume of mineral fertilizer trading on the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange (SPIMEX) doubled to 294,000 tonnes in 2025, Russia's Federal Anti-monopoly Service (FAS) said.

Ammonium nitrate is the most popular commodity on the exchange, accounting for over one-third of sales. Urea-ammoniac mixture and nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizers were in second and third place.

"The development of exchange trading contributes to the formation of price indicators, reduces the risk of price manipulation, and provides Russian agricultural producers with mineral fertilizers at affordable prices," the FAS said, noting that the maximum price level for mineral fertilizer for the domestic market has been set at the 2022 level.

Exchange trading in mineral fertilizer in Russia was launched in 2017. Currently, all types of fertilizer except potassium chloride are traded on the SPIMEX.
