Russia's Damate Group launches sales of turkey in Malaysian retail chains
MOSCOW. Dec 23 (Interfax) - Damate Group, a leading producer of turkey meat in Russia, has launched sales of turkey products in Malaysian retail chains on the eve of the Christmas season, the group said in a press release.
Damate received permission to export to Malaysia in early December 2025. The first batch has already arrived in the country's leading retail chains and includes whole turkey carcasses under the company's own brand, Indilight.
The company recalled that it is the world's first supplier of turkey to Malaysia. The products fully comply with the requirements of the national halal standards.
A ceremonial event in honor of the start of sales took place on Tuesday at the BSC Fine Foods supermarket in Kuala Lumpur. It was attended by Malaysian Agriculture Minister Mohamad Sabu, Russia's ambassador to Malaysia, Nail Latypov, trading partners of Damate, and the management of the retail chain.
Damate supplies products processed at the turkey production complex in the Penza region. "The group was the first in Russia to implement the Malaysian halal management system, recognized worldwide as the strictest set of requirements for product quality and safety, personnel, religious practices, production processes, and management at the enterprise," it said. The poultry complex has undergone a series of other audits as well.
The company plans to expand cooperation with Malaysian suppliers; among its upcoming plans is expanding the range of supplied turkey products, it said.
Damate began developing its export division in 2015. To date, it has permits to supply products to more than 60 countries worldwide, including China, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Benin, Angola, and other countries in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
Damate develops several areas of agricultural business. In addition to turkey meat production, the group is engaged in the production of lamb and duck meat as well as milk processing. The group's assets are located in the Penza, Rostov and Tyumen regions, and in the North Caucasus Federal District. The land fund amounts to over 100,000 hectares in the group's regions of presence.
Damate produced 241,500 tonnes of turkey meat in slaughter weight in 2024, up 2% compared to 2023.
