Russian govt sets export quota for rice at 200,000 tonnes in 2026
MOSCOW. Dec 22 (Interfax) - The Russian government has set the export quota for raw rice at 200,000 tonnes in 2026, its press service said in a statement on Saturday.
The relevant decision has been signed.
Within the quota, the export duty will be zero; beyond its limits, 50% of a product's customs value.
The decision was approved by the Sub-commission for Customs Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation and Protective Measures in the Foreign Trade of the governmental Commission for Economic Development and Integration, the service said. "It will help stimulate further development of rice cultivation in Russia and expand into new foreign consumer markets," the statement said.
Russia's current ban on raw rice export, in place since July 1, 2022, expires on December 31, 2025. At present, there is no need to extend it because production volumes fully cover the needs of the domestic market for the product, the statement said.
In 2024 Russia's rice harvest reached a record high of nearly 1.3 million tonnes.
