Russia boosts exports of strong beverages to India fourfold in 11M - Agroexport
MOSCOW. Dec 11 (Interfax) - Russia exported strong beverages to India worth nearly $940,000 in 11M 2025, up fourfold year-on-year, while in physical terms supplies increased 3.4-fold to more than 570 tonnes, the Agroexport federal center told Interfax, citing expert estimates.
The catalyst for growth was vodka, which accounted for over $820,000 in export revenue.
One of the suppliers is the company Ladoga, which began working with partners from India back in 2022, Agroexport said. This year, it launched a new product on the Indian market - Shelter 6 vodka, created jointly with the Indian company Cartel Bros specifically for the local market.
Russian vodka producers, primarily premium-class vodka such as Ladoga, may gain additional opportunities to expand their presence on the global market in the coming years, Agroexport said.
"The era of premium vodka is beginning on the global market for strong alcohol. According to a study by Future Market Insights, by 2035 it will become the basis of global demand for this beverage, with a share of 66.6%," Agroexport said. "This shapes a new industry landscape and opens additional opportunities for Russian producers." The growth in sales of premium vodka is explained by several factors including the increasing importance of strong beverages for consumers, growth in their incomes and the popularization of cocktail culture worldwide.
According to estimates from the research company IWSR cited by Agroexport, the main promising direction for premium alcohol today is India - a fast-growing market with high competition and demand for quality products.
