LPG production in Russia stable in 2025, exports grow amid slowing domestic demand - SIBUR

MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax) - Production of liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) in Russia amounted to 12.7 million tonnes in January-October 2025, which corresponds to their output for the same period last year, according to a presentation by SIBUR, the main producer of LPG in Russia, which was prepared for the Russia's LPG Market 2025 conference.

Domestic consumption of liquefied petroleum gases for the period amounted to 9.9 million tonnes, which is approximately 300,000 tonnes less than in January-October 2024, the company said. At the same time, this decline was compensated by an increase in LPG exports by a similar amount, from 2.5 million tonnes to 2.8 million tonnes.

The research group Petromarket provides slightly different export data: according to its estimate, the figure for 10M increased from 2.6 million tonnes to 2.7 million tonnes. The company's analysts note in their conference presentation an increase in the share of sales to Asian markets (including Turkey), from 43% to 79%.

According to Petromarket's estimate, China's share in the structure of Russian LPG exports increased from 13% to 24%, Turkey's rose from 15% to 20%, Central Asian countries (Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan) increased from 6% to 18% and Afghanistan's rose from 9% to 14%. At the same time, the share of supplies to Poland significantly decreased, from 28% to 4%. As reported, on December 20, sanctions on imports of LPG from Russia into the EU entered into full force.
