EEC reduces import duties on certain types of nuts, seeds, pits to zero for three years
MOSCOW. Dec 2 (Interfax) - The board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has established zero rates of import customs duties for shea nuts and shorea nuts, sal nuts, seeds of Garcinia indica (code 1207 99 960 1 EAEU HS) and mango pits and their kernels (code 1212 99 950 1 EAEU HS).
The zero level will be effective until December 31, 2028, inclusive, the EEC's trade division said.
"The measure under consideration aims to support enterprises that process exotic raw materials and produce specialized fats, stearins, equivalents and substitutes for cocoa butter used in the fat-and-oil, confectionery and cosmetic industries," the divison cited the director of the EEC Department of Customs-Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation, Vahagn Kazaryan, as saying.
Previously, the EEC made a decision to reduce import duties to zero for shea nuts, shorea nuts, and a number of other types of nuts, seeds and pits for the fat-and-oil and confectionery industry in 2022, also for three years. Without the reduction to zero, the import duty on these products is 5%.
