Russian, Bahraini reps discuss enhancing technology, industry, culture, sports cooperation

MOSCOW. Dec 1 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to create all conditions for sharing experience with Bahrain in cybersecurity and digitalization of the service sector, as well as in the oil and gas industry, Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova, who also co-chairs the Russian-Bahraini intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, said.

"We focused on cooperation in the pharmaceutical and automotive industries and raised the issue of building systematic work in the area of technologies and equipment for the fuel and energy sector," Lyubimova wrote on her channel on the Max messenger following the 4th meeting of the Russian-Bahraini intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation with Bahraini Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla Fakhro.

"For our part, we are ready to create all conditions for sharing experience with Bahraini partners in such areas as cybersecurity and digitalization of the service sector, the oil and gas industry, and the educational environment," she said.

Lyubimova also mentioned that Bahrain's Days of Culture took place in Russia last year, and the Treasures of Bahrain: The Art of Gold Mining through the Ages exhibition at the State Historical Museum was visited by around half a million people. "The Russian Seasons were held in the Kingdom this year, and Bahrain's Days of Culture are planned again in our country next year," she said.

Meanwhile, the Culture Ministry said that the mutual tourist flow between Russia and Bahrain increased 8% last year.

"Tourism is also an important area in Russian-Bahraini relations [...]. The mutual tourist flow rose 8% last year," the ministry's press service said.

The ministry also noted the rapidly developing bilateral sports cooperation. "I thank my Bahraini colleagues for supporting such landmark projects as the world's first Phygital Games of the Future and the BRICS Sports Games in Kazan in an open format with the participation of athletes from the association's partner countries," Lyubimova was quoted by the press service as saying.

For his part, Bahraini Industry and Commerce Minister Fakhro, quoted by the ministry's press service, noted the prospects for further active cooperation between Russia and Bahrain in various areas, including industry, tourism, sports, and culture.

"We need to focus our efforts on increasing bilateral trade, especially paying attention to investment opportunities in the fuel and energy sector and in the oil and gas industry," he said.
