Russia, Kazakhstan boost agricultural trade 9.4% in 9M - AgMin

MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax) - Russia and Kazakhstan boosted agricultural trade 9.4% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2025.

Mineral fertilizer trade continued to grow, by almost 42% year-on-year, the Russian Agriculture Ministry said following talks between the head of the ministry, Oksana Lut, and Kazakh Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov.

The talks included discussions on opportunities to boost mutual agricultural trade, conditions for the transit of agricultural products through both countries' territories, and cooperation in veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance.

The ministers signed a plan for Russia-Kazakh cooperation in the scientific and technological development of the agribusiness sector, aimed at combining the scientific efforts of the two countries in such areas as livestock farming, land reclamation, selection and seed production, and education. In addition, a bilateral Russian-Kazakh foreign trade development strategy was signed.

The ministry also said bilateral cooperation was discussed at a meeting between Lut and Azerbaijani Deputy Agriculture Minister Elchin Zeynalov.

"Russia is interested in increasing and diversifying mutual supplies of agricultural goods. First of all, this applies to grain, oil and fat products, fish and seafood, as well as fertilizers. Cooperation in the field of selection and seed production is a promising area. This is especially important for strengthening the food security and technological sovereignty of the two countries," it said.

In addition, animal disease control, as well as opportunities for expanding supplies of Russian veterinary products to the Azerbaijani market, were discussed.
