Opening of Iranian Golrang household chemicals plant in Astrakhan pushed to 2027, investment tops 1 bln rubles

ASTRAKHAN. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Roza LLC, a resident of the Lotos special economic zone (SEZ) in Astrakhan that is a division of Iran's Golrang Industrial Group, has pushed back the opening of a plant to produce household chemicals by another year to 2027, the SEZ's press service told Interfax.

"As of November 1, 2025, the overall amount of investment in the project totals 1.25 billion rubles. Output of products is planned for 2027. Construction of the plant is now underway. One hundred and twenty people will be employed in manufacturing, 44 jobs have already been created," the press service said.

Construction of the plant with design capacity of more than 9 million liters of product per year began in June 2021. The first phase was initially supposed to be finished in 2024, but completion was pushed back to 2025 and then to 2026.

Investment in the project was previously expected to total an estimated 360 million rubles, meaning the cost has already more than tripled the initial budget. The overall current cost estimate has not been specified.

The plant will manufacture shampoo, shower gel, liquid hand soap, dishwashing liquid and other cleaning products, including under Iranian brands. The plant's main customers are expected to be wholesalers and retailers, as well as cleaning companies throughout Russia.

Golrang Industrial Group, founded in 1966, has about 100 subsidiaries in the cleaning products and cosmetics, food and drug, oil and gas, petrochemical and construction industries. The group has operating plants and ones under construction in Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Canada. The plant in Astrakhan will be the group's first in Russia.

Roza LLC, incorporated in June 2019, specializes in production of inorganic chemical substances. The company secured a Lotos SEZ residency certificate on September 30, 2019.
